Blood-sucking flies are known as vectors of pathogens to farm animals worldwide. However, little is known about dipteran biodiversity associated with horse dung in Malaysia which could serve as vectors. Thus, a field trip to a horse farm located in Tanjung Rambutan, Perak, peninsular Malaysia was conducted in 2010. We examined adults and larvae of dipterans associated with 100 horse dung pats. A total of 1480 dipteran specimens from nine families were collected including Sphaeroceridae, Muscidae, Sarcophagidae, Calliphoridae, Sepsidae, Tabanidae, Ulidiidae, Dolichopodidae and Milichiidae. The lesser dung fly (Sphaeroceridae) which consisted of four species was the most abundant dipteran followed by sarcophagids and muscids. Seven species of muscids were collected from the horse farm and three of them were haematophagic namely Musca conducens Walker, 1859, Musca ventrosa Wiedemann, 1830 and Stomoxys calcitrans (Linnaeus, 1758). Fly larvae collected from the dung were raised to adult stage and subsequently identified as M. conducens and Neomyia gavisa Walker, 1859. We reported new locality records for three species of Muscidae in Malaysia namely Pyrellia proferens Walker, 1859, Lispe kowarzi Becker, 1903 (new to peninsular) and N. gavisa Walker, 1859.

Four new species of Stigmatomyces (Ascomycota, Laboulbeniomycetes, Stigmatomycetinae) parasitic on flies (Diptera) are described. These are S. aphaniosomae, parasitic on an undescribed species of Aphaniosoma (Chyromyidae) from Jordan; S. deemingii, parasitic on Milichia pubescens (Milichiidae) from Yemen; S. macanus, parasitic on Phortica spp. (Drosophilidae) from Taiwan; and S. mosilli, parasitic on Mosillus subsultans (Ephydridae) from Pakistan. Chyromyidae is a new host family for Laboulbeniales, and S. aphaniosomae is the first of the Laboulbeniales to be reported from Jordan. © 2011 by The Mycological Society of America.

The species of the genera Milichia and Milichiella in the Oriental region and Seram Is. are taxonomically investigated. Three new species, Milichia linealis sp. nov. from the Philippines, Milichiella sulawesiensis sp. nov. and Milichiella nigella sp. nov. from Indonesia, are described. New distributional data of Milichiella bakeri Aldrich from Indonesia and M. spinthera Hendel from Indonesia, Nepal and Thailand are given. Keys to the species of Milichia and Milichiella in the Oriental region and Seram Is. are provided.
